Strengthening the mentality and characteristics of fishermen is a conscious
effort to help fishermen in their business, because the success of a person's business
is not only related to large capital and many investors but also the mentality to face
all occupational risks that will occur. And one of the efforts is through kompolan
activities. The fishing community of Kapedi village formed a kompolan for special
fishing group which has been running for about six years.
In this research, the researcher will discuss how the values of the fishing
community strengthen the entrepreneurship characteristics and mentality of the
fishing community in Kapedi village with a description of the focus of the
discussion as follows: first, how to strengthen the entrepreneurship characteristics
and mentality of the fishing community through the activities of the kompolan
yasinan in Kapedi village, second , what are the supporting and inhibiting factors
for these activities.
The data collection methods used were interview, observation and
documentation with a qualitative field research approach. Then the data that has
been obtained is processed and analyzed so that it becomes a data finding and then
discussed with existing theory. The subjects of this research were 3 managers and
1 kompolan member. Then, to validate the data, researchers used triangulation
techniques and sources, namely comparing interview results with observation and
documentation and comparing interview results from one member's perspective
with those of another member.
The values contained in this fishermen's group are the values of ubudiyah,
ukhuwah, taawun. This collection can strengthen the mentality of fishermen in
Kapedi; able to motivate oneself, believe in one's own strength, be persistent in
one's work, be firm, prioritize honesty, not be afraid of change and not fall into
failure. Meanwhile, the character of Kapedi village fishermen is: always learning
from experience, able to overcome difficulties well, able to read opportunities and
ready to face risks, always innovating, and spending money wisely
